5 Signs of Poor Laundry Care (#5 Will Shock You)
Having laundry care issues? Here are a few signs that your laundry care practices might need some adjusting.
Laundry Care Issue 1. Tough on Stains
Determined to get rid of that spaghetti stain? Don’t forget to treat the garment with care. Tough scrubbing can spread the stain or make it worse. If stains aren’t budging or getting worse wash after wash, it’s time for a new approach.
First, we recommend checking the care tag. Make sure you know what kind of fabric you are dealing with. Read the label on the stainremoving product you are using to make sure you are applying it correctly. Instead of scrubbing, try just dabbing.
Laundry Care Issue 2. Snags
How did that get there? If you are noticing new snags on your garments that weren’t there before the wash, it’s time to look for a culprit.
- Make sure all zippers are zipped shut to prevent the metal teeth from coming in contact with delicate garments.
- The same concern goes for bra clasps. To prevent this you can invest in a lingerie bag or use a pillowcase.
- Consider separating heavy fabrics from the delicate ones.
Laundry Care Issue 3. Dryer Delay
Dryer taking forever and holding up laundry day? First, make sure you aren’t overloading the dryer. If that isn’t the issue, your dryer might need some cleaning or maintenance attention.
Always remember to clean the dryer filter between each load. If you are still having issues, it might be time to clean the dryer hose. Most dryer hoses only need to be cleaned once or twice a year.
Laundry Care Issue 4. Crusty Towels
Fortunately, crusty or stale towels are easy to fix. Here is some advice from Scott. >> How To Make Your Old Towels Feel Brand New.
- Wash them in hot water with one cup of vinegar.
- Wash them again how you normally would with warm water and add one cup of baking soda.
- Dry like normal.
Laundry Care Issue 5. Static
Shocking isn’t it? (Get it? Thank you for reading this blog. We hope the title wasn’t misleading.) Clingy garments are the worst. The ultimate way to reduce static is to hang dry your garments. However, that isn’t always an option. You can also try separating fabric types or add a ball of aluminum foil to your dryer load.
